Now there’s no secret that running your own business can take over your whole life. It’s important not to become overwhelmed with everything you’ve got going on and have a healthy work/life balance.
In this week’s article I’m going to be sharing a few tips that will help you have more balance and control in your day to day busy schedule.
Remember: you can never pour from an empty cup, so taking care of YOU first will allow you to put 100% back into your business.
Now you might not think that this is very important when you’ve got a lot going on. You may not think that you have time to take a few moments for yourself, well, make time. The relationship you have with yourself is the most important one, don‘t ever forget to love yourself first. Selfcare means doing things that make you feel more like you, when starting out in your business, you can loose yourself within your work, you could maybe stop doing the things you used to enjoy because you think you haven’t got time... You need to make time for yourself, selfcare isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity.
Its super important to be prepared, things can get overwhelming. I always make sure I'm up early before my day actually starts so that I can prepare for the day ahead and write up my to-do-list for the day. Writing list's really works for me, I actually get satisfaction when I tick things off and also it allows me not to forget about things. Being prepared and planning ahead is essential in business, you never want to leave things to the last minute or they could go wrong, you can never fully guarantee things wont go wrong, but ensuring you are prepared as possible is the goal. For example, if you run a serviced based business like a clinic or salon, make sure that your appointment diary is correct, make sure there's no double bookings and ensure you have all relevant equipment to be able to do the treatment. Product based businesses, make sure that you have all the ingredients you need, make sure you have all the packaging you need, ensure you plan content for your social media and so on.
Always make sure you switch off properly at the end of your day. This could mean leaving your phone or device in another room so you completely switch off. As a CEO, switching off can be the hardest thing t do because you always have something on your mind, whether it be a new idea or that email you might have forgotten to send.
Social/ Family life
Don't get caught up too much in your business, make sure you still make time to be YOU and spend quality time with family and friends, those who say they don't have time, yes you do. You need to always make time for your family and friends, because at the end of the day, these are the people that are going to support you the most. Make sure you have those social breaks, because funny enough you might even be inspired.
If you are struggling managing your work/social life, then try and take some of the load off, hire an assistant, as a friend to help you. Don't burn yourself out trying to do everything.
