What is Shea Butter?

As hinted to in the name, Shea Butter comes from a Shea tree that is found in West Africa. The Shea tree produces nuts which contain an ivory-coloured fat known as Shea Butter! As Shea Butter is a fat it contains lots of great fatty acids and vitamins. It also has a smooth-like consitency which makes it perfect for spreading onto skin to absorb its full benefits.

What are the benfits of Shea Butter?

Considering that Shea Butter is a natural, plant-based fat it has lots of beneficial properties that make it a perfect igredient to use in skincare. Here are just some of the amazing benefits of using Shea Butter in your skincare routine...

1) Safe for ANY Skin Type

One of the key benefits of Shea Butter is that it can be used in any skincare product, regardless of what skin type it's for. Despite coming from a nut, Shea Butter has a low protein count. It's these proteins which can trigger allergies. This makes it the perfect ingredient for any skin type! Not only is it safe for sensitive skin, it also doesn't dry out your skin or clog your pores, meaning anyone can enjoy the natural benefits of Shea Butter for their skin.

2) Highly Effective Moisturising Properties

Shea Butter is commonly used in skincare products for its high moisturising properties. Due to its fatty acid composition it contains linoleic, stearic, and palmitic acids that help balance the oils on your skin. They help lock moisture in your skin to prevent your skin from drying out. When your skin absorbs these fatty acids it helps restore the balance your skin's oils to create a healthy level of mositure.

3) Can Treat Acne

A unique benefit of Shea Butter is it can help treat AND prevent acne! Due to its high composition of fatty acids, Shea Butter clears you skin of the excess oils that build up on your skin and cause acne. At the same time, it restores moisture to your skin to ensure it doesn't dry out. The end result? The perfect balance of oils on your skin! This helps treat acne or prevent it from occuring.

4) Protects your Skin from the Sun

Did you know Shea Butter contains SPF 3 - 4?! Although you cannot solely rely on Shea Butter as a sunscreen, it can be layered with your sunscreen to further protect your skin from the sun.
